Mother's Day Weekend

AND Eight Months!

We had a good first week in the new house.  We are much more unpacked than a week ago, but still have 5-10 boxes that we need to figure out.  Plus a mess of a garage.  But, we did have our first visitors - my parents came down for the weekend.  A happy coincidence was that this weekend was Mother's Day weekend, so I got to spend my first mother's day as a mom with my mom - and my mom got to spend her first mother's day as a grandma with her grandson!  We had a laid back, fun visit.  As is the usual, we probably ate a bit too much, but oh well.

Carmen and I went on a date on Friday night, a much belated birthday celebration for him.  Mom and Dad babysat, which Mom was overjoyed with and Dad lived through!  Carmen and I had a wonderful time and are very appreciative of the evening out just the two of us.

Yesterday was Jayden's 8 month birthday - so we celebrated by going to a good Cuban restaurant in old town Orange, walking through a flea market and torturing him by taking him into the swimming pool for the first time.  We got a little (or a lot) of cuddle time in too.  Then Carmen grilled steak and made shrimp for us for dinner and we relaxed the rest of the evening.  It was a good day.

ooh paper!

If I hit the paper with my pacifier (or whatever else happens to be in my hand at the moment), does it make a good noise?  I don't know, but I'm certainly going to try...

I'm tired and not totally sure about Grandpa, but he seems nice so I'll cuddle anyway.
Mom has all of the pictures from the swimming pool and some others from the day.  I'll share some of those here when she sends them to me.

Dinnertime Fun (and more)

Jayden and I had some fun at dinnertime last night.  First of all, the best thing about the new house is that we can move his highchair outside and eat dinner while Jasmine plays in the yard.  It's a win for everyone.  Second, for whatever reason, Jayden decided to make these crazy faces.  I wasn't feeding him anything new - just food he's had a million times before.  But he was making these faces like he hated it or like he was choking (he wasn't choking - he was making noise and breathing and all that, trust me, I checked).

Also, one of my co-workers took a bunch of pictures at AIDS Walk of Jayden and of the three of us.  Here are a few:
He was SO tired at this point - this was as close to a smile as we were going to get.  And Lizzle, notice the Mickey onesie - it just barely still fits him!

He's started this funny thing where he tucks his bottom lip over his bottom gums.  He does it all the time now.  It's really a ridiculously cute face.

It's just not fair; they should make shirts for Jayden's size.  He just felt left out.  ;)

Family photo!  I'm lucky to have a supportive husband and son (whether he likes it or not at this point)

Seriously, it's May?!?

Time goes incredibly fast, especially when you're working, raising a child, moving, etc. The good news is that we are officially moved. We are nowhere near unpacked, but living with cardboard boxes everywhere is turning out to be fun - or at least it's more fun than unpacking those boxes!
My computer isn't working (I'm using my iPad) so I only have a few pictures to share tonight:
The first one - yes, that's Jayden's foot on my shoulder. His feet are apparently just as curious as his hands.
The second one - playing with some wooden rings on the couch in the new house. He actually managed to put a ring back on the post, something he's never done before.

Worn out

Today was AIDS Walk so we left the house before 6:30 am. Needless to say, Jayden was beat. He passed out in the car ride home and has been sleepy all day (but also, strangely, in a really good mood).

AIDS Walk was fun - I'll post more pictures either tonight or tomorrow.

Green Monster

Mama let me play with my food tonight and I made a big ol' green mess!  But I definitely had fun exploring the squishy food and mashing it in between my fingers.

Today was a big adventure: Julia was sick, so Jayden went to work with Daddy in the morning and with Mama in the afternoon.  He went to an Athletes First staff meeting, to a meeting at PLC with the big bosses and Mama and got passed around to a lot of people the rest of the time.  He even helped Mama type an email.  I loved having him around all day but I was definitely about 80% less productive today.  Oh well.  There's always tomorrow to return phone calls.
