Okay, but really. I'm ready.

Today was a day I'd like to do over, for the most part.  It was just long and rough and tiring.  Not exactly what I was looking for the day before 39 weeks.

For those of you who don't want to know the grisly details, skip the next paragraph.
Tuesday night, just before dinner, my mucus plug discharged.  Which means labor is somewhere between hours to days away.  Well, since it's now Thursday night, it clearly wasn't hours away.  But I am basically anticipating any second, any minute, any hour.  My contractions are definitely more serious at night, so I had a few Tuesday that made me think labor was imminent.  Then they went away and for most of Wednesday I was fine.  Tired, but fine.  Wednesday night I had some pretty good contractions.  And at about 1:30 am I woke up and couldn't go back to sleep until about 4:30 am.  I actually came downstairs and did some work from about 3:30 to 4:30.  Terrible.

Luckily I had my Non-Stress Test this morning, which I was looking forward to, because it involves peaceful relaxation in a recliner chair for about 20 minutes.  Of course it wasn't as relaxing as last time and it went way too fast.  The "good" news is that baby girl moved quite a bit and looked very healthy, according to the technician.  My fluids are actually lower than Monday, but still not low enough to send me to labor and delivery.  The first reading came back at 4.8.  The second reading came back at 6.1.  If they get anything under 5, I go straight to labor and delivery.  So I'm barely making the cut.  But I am making the cut, which is what matters.  She was still hiding her face too, so I still have no idea if she has three eyes, one nostril, a cockeyed ear, etc.  Seems like we might find out soon enough, though.

This is what my 39 week belly looks like being "non-stressed."  :)
Jayden has been rather cute, but also waking up waaaay too early.  Since I've mostly gotten off work early, we've been able to get home and play a little bit before dinner, which has been really nice.  I've had to work with him to pick activities that let me sit down, but he's been pretty good about it.

I guess I forgot I had pictures to post with my last couple of blog posts.  So here are some photos:

Our cool kid with his goggles and his noodle after swim class.

Rocking out to the store music.  Wanna play "guess that store" based on the floors and displays that you can see?!?
(in case you're not as crazy as I am, that would be Nordstrom.  Kelly, I know you got that one!)

Jayden and I took turns writing the letters of his name.  Hopefully you can tell which ones he wrote and which ones I wrote.  Except the E.  My mom probably thinks I wrote the "E," since that's exactly how I wrote my Es when I was a little kid too.

Jayden cleaning the floor for me.  Every once in a while it totally pays off to have a kid who is obsessed with cleanliness.

Jayden playing "catch."  He stands there with his catcher out and Carmen and I have to aim to get the ball in there.  It's an interesting game.  Particularly if we miss a little to the right and he doesn't move and the ball hits him in the head.  But it's actually a great game
This was amazing.  Last night before bedtime, Jayden ran around the upstairs squatting randomly.  The first time he did it he was completely naked and I swore he was going to pee in the middle of the room.  Luckily he was just "getting his exercise."  But it was hilarious.  So since Carmen and I were cracking up, of course Jayden kept doing it. It was just the best.

A true Southern California kid.  It was raining a little this morning, so Jayden went to get his "rain coat."  He came back downstairs with his winter coat.  He wore it, with his shorts, for the 30 foot walk to the car.  Then took it off and left it in Carmen's car the rest of the day.  Hilarious.
One of my clients brought a blanket for baby girl.  Clearly Jayden adopted it as his and ran around the family room as the yellow blanket monster, bonking into everything.  And now he's sleeping with it.
Tonight as we were snuggling before bedtime we talked about how Jayden has been so nice sharing things with his baby sister.  But I told him that some things are his and some things he doesn't have to share if he doesn't want to.  I clearly want to encourage sharing, but I also don't want him to feel like baby girl is taking over his world - more than he'll already feel that way.  I think it helped a little, because there was one thing he decided that he would keep for himself, which I fully support.  :)
Tomorrow is officially 39 weeks.  I have never been 39 weeks pregnant before.  I don't think I'm really enjoying it.  I'm incredibly uncomfortable and anxious, totally convinced I'm going to have the baby in the car on the way to the hospital because I can't count contractions the right way.  We'll see.  Honestly, I'm really just hoping my water breaks, because I know what to do if that happens.

This afternoon was brutal.  I had to fire our administrative assistant this afternoon, and she did not take it well.  And neither did I.  Because my office management is so supportive, I had to stay at the office more than two hours longer than I was supposed to, missed picking up Jayden and missed dinner.  It was really frustrating and emotionally draining.  It's sort of a miracle I'm still awake, except I had to do laundry so now I'm waiting on that.  I'm having a lot of pain, most of which I believe is just indigestion.  If I'm going to be in pain, I'd rather be in pain due to contractions!

As for the official update, supposedly baby girl measured 7 pounds 7 ounces at the ultrasound last week.  I wasn't planning on delivering a baby over 8 pounds, but it seems like I might get that opportunity.  Supposedly boys tend to be heavier than girls, but in our family that may be the opposite.  Unless the ultrasound tech was wrong and Jayden is really getting a baby brother....

Thank goodness one of the websites says it's nearly impossible to judge a baby's size from outside the womb.  I'm going to go with closer to 7 pounds, just to make myself feel better.  She's about the size of a mini watermelon, and is continuing to build up a layer of fat to help her survive outside the womb.

I'll keep everyone posted!  If you're so inclined, send positive thoughts for both kids to be born on the 12th.  That means baby girl has 26 hours to get this party started....!
