We're going to slowly introduce more solids into Jayden's life: he's been trying rice cereal, as you all saw. Yesterday he tried sweet potato for the first time. It maybe wasn't the best day to try it since he was so fussy, but once he tasted it, he calmed down and ate it all up. I'm loving making my own baby food. I just roasted a sweet potato for about an hour, spooned out the inside, pureed it with my handheld immersion blender (that I won in an online contest), thinned it out a little with milk and then spooned it into my baby food storage trays. The one sweet potato (maybe a pound or so) made 10 servings! Next week we'll try carrots.
Today has been a much better day for him, although he is still having trouble napping. He is too curious and social sometimes, and he's getting way too good at grabbing things. He can pick up his own toys; when Jayden drops one, Carmen always lowers him down so that he can pick it up himself. Jayden can also hold onto his pacifier himself, which is great except that he hasn't totally figured out which side goes into his mouth - oh well!
This was supposed to be naptime today:

I want to hold my OWN pacificer mama!

Nap? What nap? I wanna hang out and smile at you!

Ooh, a new bear. I'd much rather explore this bear than sleep mama. Silly mama who thinks I need to nap during the day.
