First: last weekend. Sunday morning Jayden and I went to a birthday party. It was for Shreya, the daughter of a friend of mine I met at work. She was born a few days after Jayden, and Shreya, Shilpa (Shreya's mom), Jayden and I used to get together for play dates when I worked four days a week or when we managed to schedule it. But we haven't done much (maybe anything) in the last year. But when she invited us to the birthday party, I wanted to make it work. I feel like I can't lose a mommy friend! We only could go for an hour or so, which I thought would be fine since we had soccer afterwards and Jayden loves soccer. And then . . . we got there. The party was at Frogg's Bounce House, which is basically a giant room full of bounce houses. It was a big hit. I have a feeling we'll be back there. It was an insane place to have a party. It didn't allow the kids/parents to socialize all that much since the kids were everywhere and the parents were chasing after them. But the kids definitely got their energy out!

Jayden threw a fit when I told him we had to leave. It took me a while to convince him and then I had to actually carry him out of one of the bounce houses, and of course, as usual with me, he began hitting. I finally calmed him down and he walked out with me. But man alive, I hate that he hits (only me, but still) when he gets frustrated.
We made it to soccer relatively unscathed. Carmen met us there (he didn't want to go to the birthday party with us). We were a few minutes late but Jayden joined right in. At the end, Jayden actually stretched. I don't know if you can see it in the picture below, but he's stretching his side, supposedly.
The rest of Sunday was fun (especially because the Seahawks pulled it out against the Broncos in OT baby!). Jayden slept for a bit, and then we woke up and chatted with Gramma about the pumpkins she grew, and other things. We went to this awesome place nearby called Snow Station. They have what is basically shaved frozen yogurt. There are a ton of flavors and you get one topping. It's so great. It somehow feels healthier, even though I'm sure it's not. Jayden got vanilla with apple jacks, I got watermelon with white chocolate chips and Carmen got strawberry with gummy bears. Next time anyone comes to visit, you have to remind me to take you there!
Monday it was back to business as usual. I managed to leave work early (now I can't remember how or why, but whatever). Oh right. I had the day off. I went for a short run and then to a yoga class. I went to the grocery store, took myself out to lunch, then came home and sat on the couch for an hour. I then picked up Jayden early and we went to the park on the way home. It was lovely. We went to one park, it was clear Jayden had to go potty so I tried letting him pee in the grass, but that wasn't happening. So I packed him in the car, drove him across the street to the other park (thank goodness for Irvine and it's 18 gazillion parks) that had a bathroom and made it just in time! We played at the second park for a bit and then headed home, and played in the backyard some more. Good times!
Tuesday and Wednesday were normal, except Jayden was facing extreme constipation by Wednesday night again. Poor kid was hysterical, and cried basically from when we got on the freeway to go home until we put him to bed. He skipped dinner and was just in pain the whole time. So so so sad. Julia was convinced there was something else wrong, but I knew better. FINALLY, Thursday at Juju's he found some relief, thank goodness. He was such a different kid when I picked him up, for which I was also very grateful.

| Thursday morning. My A-DIDAS! |
Today was another okay day. Jayden threw a temper tantrum leaving Juju's because he wanted to take a toy from Juju's house home and I told him no. He hit me and hit me and hit me, as often happens when Jayden gets frustrated. I got him in his carseat, told him that was unacceptable and got ready to drive home. I had to return a few emails before I started driving, but before we even got to the freeway Jayden said "Mommy, I think I should go in time out." I said "really, how come?" He said "because I was hitting you and hitting you." I never put him in a time out, but it was interesting that 10 or 15 minutes after it happened he was still thinking about it and recognizing that he did something not so good. Such a reflective little boy.
After we got home (early, thank goodness!), we went straight to the backyard and played soccer for a while, which was lots of fun. Jayden is really rather coordinated - he was essentially dribbling the soccer ball with his feet and scoring "goals" (across the 20 foot goal, so the challenge was only so difficult).

| When he "scored" he's raise his arms above his head and get this big smile on his face - he'd say "mommy, I scored a goal!!!" He gets so proud of himself, I love it. |
And now it's the weekend. I have to work tomorrow, but will hopefully make it to swim lessons. I may have to go back to work after swim lessons, but I'm hoping I can get away with not going. We'll see. No other plans this weekend, which is lovely. I'm clearly still not adjusted to work, and Carmen is going through some extremely stressful times at work as well. So we both could use a low-key, relaxing weekend. Hopefully nothing upsets that plan. I hope everyone else survived their weeks, and gets to enjoy their weekends as well!
