Today was just normal - nothing exciting or different or exciting. But it was a good day. We had swim lessons, Jayden took a long nap, we went to the park and then out for pizza for dinner. And now Jayden is passed out and Carmen and I are having a glass of wine on the couch before I pass out shortly.
Jayden has been coughing since Tuesday - never really had a runny nose or anything else worse, just a cough. It started to go away by Thursday and was pretty much completely gone by today. However, since kids are so awesome, I'm sure he passed the germs on to me and I came down with something on Thursday. I felt terrible Thursday and Friday - nauseous, sore throat, congested, headache, etc. But Carmen was up in LA both nights, so I put Jayden to bed, did a few things around the house, and was in bed by 10 pm both nights. Today I was feeling better, but still not great, so I stayed out of the pool this morning to protect the other kiddos. The upside was that I got to take pictures:
| Learning to hold on to the side and find the ladder - so he always knows how to get out of trouble in the deep end. |
| Swimming with Ms. Stacy. He was much better today, so long as Stacy pushed his head down before going under. He gave Ms. Stacy high fives twice and he understands the concept behind taking a breath before going under. We just have to teach him not to arch his head back before going under. |
| Again, swimming and kicking with Ms. Stacy. She took him under two or three times in the width of the pool. He's really getting better. It was fun to watch. |
| The whole class. |
| Getting ready to get out of the pool. He was smiling the second before I took this photo, going "mama!" Oh well. |
Even though I was sick, Thursday and Friday evenings with Jayden were good. He's been such a happy kid and he's hilarious. We have a good time together.
| Love this expression. Please don't tell 16-year-old Jayden that I shared this photo |
| Fun times in the bathtub! |
| Cuddling with Mama in his Monster towel after his bath on Friday night. So glad I bought these kid-sized towels. They're much softer, bigger and more fun than the old towels we had. |
So, today, after swim, we came back home and played around. We decided to eat lunch at home, since we knew Jayden would need to nap soon. Little did we know it would be sooner than later.
| Literally passed out at the table. |
| Another angle, in case you didn't believe his eyes were closed. I carried him upstairs and laid him in his crib and he barely moved. And then he slept for almost 2-1/2 hours! Guess it was needed. |
After the ridiculously long nap we had a snack and then went to the park for a bit and then dinner. It was a nice day - in the 70s and warm.
| Going down the biggest slide at the playground. And fighting off the 8-year-olds to get there. |
| Crossing the bouncy bridge. We did this approximately 43 times. |
| A close up, just because. |
| Mama and Jayden (actually smiling for the camera) at dinner. Jayden was such a great kid at dinner. We met a family who has a 19-month old who can't work a fork or spoon. A little proud parenting moment that our kid has such good fine motor skills. But the other kid had the exact same hair as Jayden and was close to the same large size. It was pretty amazing. We almost sort of made friends with his parents, but maybe next time. |
Tomorrow we have planned a similarly boring but relaxing day. Talk about a great weekend.
