No pictures, just a quick update

Today was yet another good day.  We ended up going to a furniture warehouse sale a little ways away and going out to lunch.  All of that was fun, but uneventful (except for Jayden eating two slices of pear, an entire cheeseburger and a tub of applesauce, along with at least a cup of milk for lunch - that kid is going to be eating three hamburgers at each meal by the time he's 6).

What did happen today is that Jayden had his first bloody injury.  I'm actually kind of amazed that he hasn't had one yet.  And I guess that's kind of a lie - he did skin his knee a couple weeks ago and there was a little bit of blood - but today was actual bloodiness.  He was running down our hallway from the downstairs guest room to the entryway and tripped over the transition from the wood floor to the tile.  His hands didn't get down quickly enough and he went headfirst into the tile.  We thought he was fine, just scared until I managed to see under his top lip.  And saw a "huge" pool of red blood!  I freaked out a little.  And then calmed down 3.4 seconds later and grabbed a wet paper towel and some ice and started applying pressure.  He was so calm - just sitting on Carmen's lap and letting me and Carmen ice the injury and try to stop the bleeding.  Finally he got tired of us, pushed us away, got down off Carmen's lap and went to find his push toy and started telling us stories.  So we figured he was fine at that point.  His lip is a little swollen and I think he'll have a little bruise on his top lip, but it clearly doesn't bother him.  A couple hours later he was diving on me and trying to get me to flip him all over the place - don't think the injury scared him one single little bit.

The other thing I've been meaning to report is how much Jayden is talking.  When my mom was here a few weeks ago she discovered these alphabet books that I think Enid gave us back when Jayden was born.  He adores these books now.  Every night we read at least four or five letters, sometimes more.  And he absolutely recognizes pictures.  When we get to the "foot" for "F," he raises his foot and makes me figure out how to raise my foot next to his also (he has encouraged me to do more yoga so that I can be that flexible).  He knows "milk" in the "M" book.  He knows "dog" in the "D" book, of course.  He knows "butterfly" in the "B" book, as well as "boat," and he knows that the boat is in "water."  It's just so amazing that he's able to put so many things together.  He then recognizes these things in other books too - like the butterfly in the The Hungry Caterpillar he now recognizes.
I was talking to one of my best friends today - her son is two this month - and we were talking about how much of a difference even a few weeks can make sometimes.  In a few years, the four months difference between Jayden and her son will mean nothing.  But at this age it's a huge difference!

In any case, I just wanted to give a quick update and I'll try to add a few pictures this week, probably either from breakfast or dinner!  Hope everyone had a good weekend - if anyone has any ideas on how to make all weekends 3-day weekends, please let me know.
