Over the past couple weeks I've been thinking about getting Jayden a potty seat. I know it's early, especially for a boy, but I figured it's worth a try. He's been particularly interested in watching us go to the bathroom (which sounds gross, but turns out when you have a toddler who may soon be potty trained, it's actually a great thing), so I figured now was a good time for him to get his own.
Last week I ordered a potty seat and also a smaller adapter seat that goes on the full-size toilet. It came yesterday and I set it up in Jayden's bathroom last night. Well, as soon as he saw it he wanted to sit down. He'd stand up, look down and then sit back down again.

| I do realize that he'll hate me one day for allowing this picture to go public. But how cute is he?!? And how huge does he look with his legs?!? |
His bath was about 2-1/2 minutes because he spent the whole time crying and reaching for his potty. He sat on the potty shivering after getting out of the bath because he wouldn't let me put the towel around his shoulders. And then he proceeded to cry for "ma pah-tee" the whole time we put his pajamas on, brushed his teeth and tried to give him bedtime hugs. He finally calmed down, but it was rather amazing how quickly he became attached. He cried for it tonight too, but it was significantly less dramatic tonight. I'm going to try letting him sit on the potty in the morning to see if he'll ever actually use the potty, and Julia is going to see if he's interested too. We're not officially potty training, just getting him used to the idea of it.
We had moved Jasmine's bed yesterday to a different place in our room. Jayden immediately recognized the difference and did what he could to correct the "problem."

| Actually, both Jayden and Jasmine were disconcerted with the change in location. Jayden is the only one who tried to do anything about it, though. He tried a number of times to lift the bed and move it. It never really got that far. |
It was pretty hilarious.
Tonight I finally caught a photo, albeit blurry, of the nighttime hug between our two kids:
 |
| Sometimes Jasmine is more into it than others. Tonight Jasmine wasn't super excited about it, but Jayden rarely misses an opportunity. Even last night, when he was crying about his potty, he still hugged Jasmine with me. |
He's really just doing so well. He can make so many different sounds, mimicking what we say and can really adapt to new situations. Last night he decided it would be fun to scream from 12:30 am to 1:30 am. I went in to his room in progressive increments - 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, etc. And finally he went back to sleep. We have no idea what it was that woke him up. But we're trying our best to get him to go back to sleep in his crib. In the past he really hasn't been able to go back to sleep in his crib without one of us there, so we're trying to break that cycle. It meant that I missed out on an hour of sleep. BUT, since Carmen is out of town
again, it meant that my morning was much more pleasant. I was able to get up extra early to let Jasmine out and get myself ready before getting Jayden up for the day. Tomorrow I have to be at work a little early, which means we're going to have to leave the house before 8 am to get Jayden to daycare and me to work on time. I tried to get him to bed early so that when I wake him up early tomorrow he won't hate me as much. We'll see!
If there was ever a perfect time for a three-day weekend, this is it. I CANNOT wait to hang out this weekend and goof off with Jayden. I can guarantee you there will be some dance parties, possibly some trips to the park, maybe a trip to the zoo and definitely some eating. No big plans, but those have turned into my favorite weekends right now. I hope all of you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
