For those who know anything about Star Wars, apparently today is a big day, actually called "Star Wars Day." This is something I did not know and Carmen maybe didn't realize before we decided we'd spend the day at Disneyland. Turns out it wasn't that big of a deal, but it was somewhat entertaining.
This morning was AIDS Walk, which made for a super early morning. Carmen and I were up by 5:15ish and we got Jayden up just after 6:00 am. We were at Disneyland by 6:40 and walked (we think) probably 6 miles today. The walk itself was 3.2 miles and was nice. I missed most all of my co-workers except for three, but that's fine. Once the park opened at 9:00 am, Carmen, Jayden and I made our way to the entrance and set out on our adventure. As usual, we started with the Tiki Room, went to Pirates and then on to more adventures. Turns out Jayden is still scared of Pirates, and actually is scared of any loud noises and dark rides. Even the part of It's a Small World that is maybe sort of kind of dark he was nervous in. He eventually warmed up in Nemo, because there were bubbles and fishes and stuff. The Mark Twain riverboat was okay until it blew its horn. And Winnie the Pooh was mostly all bad because of darkness. Oh, and even the railroad had darkness and dinosaurs, both of which caused trepidation. It was actually kind of interesting. And a little painful - my thighs are definitely going to be bruised from Jayden trying to crawl closer to me after he had already plastered himself to my body. My friend Stacy did send this blog post to me the other day that said that there are scientific studies that show that being held my mama (or daddy) automatically decreases a child's heartrate, thereby reducing his/her stress. So I let him hold on when he was scared, because if I provide that comfort just by touching him then it's the least I can do.

| During AIDS Walk. Jayden was pretty tired during most of AIDS Walk, so the upside down picture was the best I was gonna get. |
| Somehow Mama is awake and Carmen learned how to zoom! |
| Minnie and Daisy! Of course Jayden was not impressed and would have been happier if he could have just run in circles. |
| Mater! Jayden was again not happy. Mater made loud noises that apparently were scary at 7:40 am on a Saturday when he should have just been waking up. |
| Entranced by the entrance to the Tiki room. It got even better when we got inside. Nothing better than talking birds, singing flowers and chanting Tiki totem pole guys. |
| Passed out in Disneyland. Nap 1 of 2. |
| Family Time! This is what we looked like most of the day today: Carmen and I were smiling and Jayden was clutching one or both of us. |
| Waiting in line for Nemo. Carmen and I got creative since we were entertaining the little man for 30 minutes or so. We're not sure how the people behind us felt about it but the people in front of us were fine. So it clearly wasn't us. |
| Where's Jayden? We can't see him! |
We got home around 4 - we spent six hours at the park today! And neither of us could fathom making dinner or even making Jayden dinner. So we walked Jasmine, hung out for a minute and then went out for pizza. We had a great dinner and decided we're going to become regulars at this place a couple miles away from us. No corkage fee, super kid friendly and just generally nice people. We worked our butts off to entertain Jayden until the food came and then after we finished eating we practically ran to the car. Until Jayden saw a doggie painted on a window, of course:
| So we sat on the bench and talked about the doggie until Mama decided she was ready to go. Which was about 4.6 seconds. |
We got home and Jayden was in bed within about 30 minutes, including bath. He was so incredibly tired. And so are we! It's 8:00 pm and we're debating whether we go to bed now or in an hour. I promise both of us are under the age of 80. You just can't tell right now. May the Fourth be with you everyone!
